How do i get my motorcycle back from ex- bf who stop making payments?
i got a motorcycle in my name for my ex-bf a year ago. He stop making payments a couple months ago. How do I get it back? I try calling the police. They told me I can’t file for a stolen bike because its not stolen he has been paying on it for a year. I’m trying to get my bike back without having to pay out of pocket for a lawyer or a private repo service. please help. what do i do?
the bike is financed in my name. still owes 00 on it. He stop making payments went and changed his phone number. police wont let me report it stolen because hes been making payments for about a year. I called a lawyer who told me to call the police.
the bike is also register in my name. If they run the tag it will just come back to me.
i been making payments so it doesn’t look terrible on my credit. Im keeping it in excellent status so i dont get a repo charge. I just want the bike back to resell it and take it out of my name. He went. I got an ancient address his ssn and his drivers license #. his baby mothers name and her mothers address. I tried everything. Police wont let me do a police report because "technically he has made a year of payment so its his bike" so im at a lost. Its register and finance in my name but i can’t do anything about it. someone please help.

Both Harley Mike and Polar bear are right.
Talk to loan agency first, then report it as stolen if he will not give it back.
Now go drink a few beers and plot your revenge.

Just take it back. It also is not stealing it the title and registration is in your name.
If you are uncomfortable with taking the whole bike, just take the plate. If the bike is registered in your name this is your property. Also get the registration papers if this is possible. Chances are he won’t even notice the plate missing straight away. He won’t be able to ride the bike without a plate. Let him clarify to the law if he is caught why he is riding your motorcycle without a plate.
Whatever you do don’t stop the insurance on this bike. As this bike is your name you are liable if he gets in an accident.

Small Claims Court (no lawyers allowed).
About $20-40 filing fee, which you can question to judge to add to any judgment award you get.
He don’t show for it, you win by default.
The judge can order him to turn the bike over to you.
If he doesn’t, the judge can hold him in comtempt, which can include fines and jail time.

You said he went,…do you know where to? Take the largest toughest guy friend you know over to his place and take the bike back and let your friend give this guy the beat down he has coming to him. Yeah, he’s certainly got a beat down coming. Go and get your bike from this POSMF. This guy makes bart look like the candyman. If you cannot find him and you don’t know where he went, go to the county treasurer’s office. The registration is a matter of public record, so his new address is available. Go get your bike.

I would inform the lean holder. Maybe they can work with you and the authorities. If his name isn’t on the title. He can make all the payments he wants it still isn’t his.

Well I am not a lawyer and I am not a cop, but based on your letter I cannot undedrstand why any cop or any lawyer would deed ownership to the party making the payments. One thing has nothing to do with the other…..If teh bike is titled in your name/you purchasaed it etc etc neither the banks/the finac companies or the Stae give a hoot one way or the other who sends the check. As long as the check gets to them on time every month..YOu are still teh legal owner of that bike period…THIs is trange news for sure. Maybe you are not telling all in your question. It would seem to me tht since he stoppedmaking payments you dont need to worry about getting it back. The band will rpeo it shrolty then neither of you will have the bike…Go to the loan officer et cetc with the title and see if they can provide any help with the local police prior to getting your bike repossessed…Goodluck

I’m with Polarbear. You can’t count on a bunch of donut munching fatasses to help with property crimes. I just went that route.
Get a huge friend to go with you and repossess the bike.
