The Fray’s “How to save a life” Relationship or suicide?

Is this song about a break up or about suicide or am I completely off and it’s about something else? I like this song and it gives me the chills every time I hear it.

i’m pretty sure it’s about helping this person through some really tough times and really preventing them from suicide. but then again, i’ve only heard it a couple times.

I like the song to… I have to listen to it 5 times a day.. it sounds like it’s about a suicide, but the music video contradicts that because it has young people in relationships… I dunno. The song still rocks though!

wow…I never thought of it as a suicide…hmmm…I really like this song and I always thought of it as a breakup. I will listen to it again, but Im still saying breakup.

Its certainly about a relationship….The Fray is really a Christian based band, although they don’t come out and say it….perhaps there was a suicide, and the singer regrets not helping him/her when they were alive….but its not a terrible song…I like it too and could listen to it over and over!
